The farm is located within the Timavo Maremma Regional Park, and owes its name to an underground river in Friuli Venezia Giulia, valchiusana flows as the source on the slopes of Mount Snowy, Slovenia (specifically from the Val Turkov škulje Malacca (Mlakar )), not far from the border with Croatia (as Reka), and flows into the sea near San Giovanni di Duino (Trieste province).

It is well known because of its long underground journey of about 40 kilometers, from the caves of Škocjan-Škocjan in Slovenia, through the 'Abyss Trebiciano, reaches the village of San Giovanni di Duino. Here reappears to flow into the Gulf of Trieste after a couple of miles. This route is considered as one of the most interesting karst phenomena. Named after the river Timavo, hence the name of the homonymous company located in Monfalcone rowers.
