Sogn farm is located at about 1 km from the centre of the village Svarstad and at about 250 meters from the Numedalslågen River. The farm is built on a hilltop in a beautiful scenery and offers a panoramic view over the valley... The river Numendalslågen is one of the best salmon rivers in Norway and attracts many fishermen from all over Europe. Beside salmon one finds plenty freshwater fish like trout, pike, eel, grayling, perch and gwynead. Sogn farm is not far from the coast so people who like saltwater fishing can go for a fish in one of the many fjords. The 200 meters long private stretch of the river directly attached to the farm can be used for salmon fishing, both from land and by boat. When the cabin (the stabbur) or the apartment (Lågensikt) is hired, there is no charge for salmon fishing on this private stretch. Sogn farm has 2 units to rent out. In the village centre there are (food) shops , a bank , a restaurant and several places to order catering food. The area is attractive for families with children. There is a hill farm at 14 km, named Nordgårdsetra, where children have the opportunity to meet with a small dairy farm with many types of animals. At 7 km there is Kjaerrafiske fossepark. This is a place with rapids and waterfalls where salmon is caught in a traditional way. Here you find also Gråtasstunet. It is the home to ”gråtass”, a gray tractor that can talk and see and is quite popular for children as there are given shows around this tractor and happenings at a farm. At Sogn farm children have the possibility to meet farm animals. Sogn farm lies at 3 km from the local ski resourt, the Svarstad ski centre.
