Villa Pisani Villa Pisani
At the end of the parterre overlooking the residence, a high hedge of topiate badgers in the form of solids divides the "immediate garden" from the prairie and the park. This is crossed by a perimeter avenue with branches along which meet in succession: the natural icebox, a fountain dedicated to the Symonds, the rock garden (the Mockery), the false ruins ("Baal temple and Jericho walls"), the family chapel, an important and unique example of Elizabethan neo-Gothic built in 1860 by the sculptor Antonio Gradenigo (sculptor for Jappelli in the Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua) designed by Pietro Selvatico Estense, the 19th century theater and the temple dedicated to Saint Anthony. But the masterpiece of this splendid project is the great quantity and variety of secular and monumental plants, even non-native ones, whose size and foliage make each one unique, as well as historical. It is a fascinating journey, in which each plant dispenses the most intense emotions: superb and generous sovereigns, they lead back to the mystery of nature which, motionless and alive, governs over every restlessness and instills quietness in the play of shadows and lights, darkness and flashes. Garden and Park of Villa Pisani are the testimony of the personality and human fascination of Evelina Pisani so strong as to feel her still present.
