Our house is on the north-east corner of Signoria Square, just at the beginning of Magazzini Street (once called Braccio di San Giorgio). The writer Vasco Pratolini was born here and at the end of this very short and narrow street there is Dante’s house.
We bought this house in July 2000; it was just an investment, we wanted to sell it in a short time …but…it was love at first sight, we felt we belonged within these walls. So the idea of opening it to all the friends of the world began to take shape, so we could share with them the magic spell of the square and the renaissance atmosphere. You can almost imagine that, going out from the front door, one could be meeting Cosimo, Lorenzo or Caterina de’ Medici.
Even today our incurable enthusiasm, together with that of our sons, Giulio, Umberto and Matteo, keeps growing. The project continues expanding and next year we will also have two flats on the fourth floor of the same building. Looking from the windows above one can see Signoria Square, Giotto’s bell-tower, Brunelleschi’s cupola, the bell-tower of the Badia Fiorentina, the Bargello tower and so on.
