In a Benedectine monastery constructed in the 13^th century and then used as a farmhouse for centuries, proprietors Elio and Laura Savoca have beautifully restored this ancient property into a flourishing agriturismo hotel.  Centered around a traditional Sicilian courtyard, there are fourteen warm and comfortable rooms, one of which is accessible for handicapped use, all furnished with Sicilian furniture, equipped with bathrooms, and with traditional ceramic tile floors made in nearby Caltagirone.  The restoration has been made to complement the traditional architecture of Gigliotto, with its expansive courtyard, arched entryways, and high beamed ceilings. 

The services offered here are varied and many:  cycling, horseback riding, hiking, fishing at the small lake on the farm, and hunting.  There is also a conference room, a park with a playground for children, and a swimming pool.  Guided activities include the possibility to take part in the seasonal harvest of mushrooms and wild asparagus, traditional Sicilian cooking classes, and specialty cooking courses in baked goods and jams according to the traditional farm recipes of the region.  There is also a small spring that produces healthful water.   

In the Sala Grande dining room that can seat up to 150 people, you can sample traditional Sicilian cuisine with our selection of local cheeses and sausages, grilled roasts and meats, frittatas, and home made pasta.  Our cuisine is prepared with our organic olive oil grown and made in our own frantoio and the dining experience is complemented by organic wine made from black Avola grapes in our vineyard and traditionally harvested by hand.  Our farm is exclusively organic.  Breakfast is served with simple, carefully chosen items with our local honey and homemade jams.

To reach Gigliotto, take the autostrada Catania-Palermo and exit at the motorway sign “Mulinello” in the direction towards “Piazza Armerina.”  Then you will continue on the S.S. (Strada Statale) 117 / bis road.  Instead of exiting at “Piazza Armerina” go in the direction towards “Gela.”At kilometer marker 60, exit at “Mirabella Imbaccari”  and immediately at the right you will find Gigliotto.
