Sant'Anna Arresi is a town of 2,703 inhabitants in the province of Carbonia-Iglesias, in the historical region of Sulcis-Iglesias. It is part of the municipality of Sant'Anna Arresi the resort town of Porto Pino with its characteristic white sand beach.

The promontory of
Porto Pino, where the name of the beach is covered by a vast pine forest of Aleppo pine spontaneous, training and quite rare in Sardinia only in this area and the island of San Pietro. At Pine joins the Kermes oak, typical of coastal environments and also with a very restricted range in the island.
In the pine forest is also the Phoenician juniper and juniper. On the western side, more windswept, stretch instead the low scrub and garrigue dominated phillyrea, rosemary and several species of cistus. On the cliffs, where the rock outcrops, instead grow the rare asterisk maritime and sea lavender.

The beach and dunes

The sandy strip that separates the sea from the ponds is about 70 wide and is busy in the inner part, by a pine forest (in this case spontaneous) that directly overlooks the dpiaggia. This has a length of over 4 km
Often the sand pile up the remains of sea grass that grow on the seabed and forming extensive meadows that once death are brought to shore by. In the eastern part of the beach of Porto Pino are the beautiful dunes, called "White Sands", whose sand is produced by the erosion of rocks of the headland, operated by the sea and weather. The granules are then transported by the currents at the opposite end of the beach where they are deposited resulting in the formation of the dunes. On the sands some plants with their roots hold the particles allowing the accumulation. On top of the dunes then grows a dense clump of juniper particularly lush.
