The town, Vigo di Fassa, is among the largest and sunniest in the valley. Located at the foot of the Catinaccio, in a dominant position, it is directly connected to Bolzano, from which it is only 35 km away, through the Costalunga Pass (also called Carezza Pass or Karerpass) also in the municipality of Vigo di Fassa. From the town center a cable car takes you directly to Ciampedie in a few minutes, a real garden and balcony overlooking the Dolomites with a unique panorama in the world. Worth mentioning are the two ancient, splendid Gothic churches: Santa Giuliana, patron saint of the valley (early 1500s) and the Pieve di San Giovanni (second half of the 1400s) in the hamlet of the same name, an ancient and current parish church, as well as the greatest religious and art of the valley.
